Replication Computer

Official Replicators Art

Definition: A computer specifically designed to calculate the necessary Elemental configuration changes that need to occur in order for a specific Æther configuration to be able to reconfigure itself and its accompanying Element configuration into a specific, pre-programmed alternate configuration.

Notes: Battle, history, astronomical and replication computers all work on the same principle, however, they differ in appearance and functionality. Each computer is functionally capable of performing its own designed program and cannot accurately perform that of any other computer.

Description: Ages ago, as the knowledge banks began to reach what humans would consider near infinite levels, the Æonans realized the need to separate their computers into different classes. They divided the knowledge banks into different branches of knowledge, some of which were the battle, history and astronomical sectors. Each of these areas of knowledge required the full memory and processing capacity of a single computer to calculate any given problem. In time, however, the Replication Technology was discovered, a technology so complex as to need an entire computer dedicated solely to the calculation of the Replication Process, which is the actual surgical procedure which makes Æonans Replicators.

Replication computers are similar to other computers in their processing manner. Instead of electric wires and magnetic memory chips, Æonic computers use light as a means of transferring information. The light is transferred wirelessly through an intricate array of super hard crystals. Additionally, memory is stored in the atoms of other crystals, no less hard but of a different substance. The crystal "wires" and the crystal "memory chips" are located inside the machine and are attached to a console which has an outlet upon the face of the computer. This console can be manually manipulated. There are also radio frequency interpreters which allow a user to control the computer via radio transmission, as well as data tubes along its top surfaces that connect to a user for transfer of commands and information, or to other machines, such as holimage projectors.

Replication computers differ from other computers in that they also have a transparent plate or window that faces the operator, which has photosensitive cells upon it. An operator who is equipped with a Light Transmitter, which is the equivalent of a Radio Transmitter, except that it emits visible light, may visually transmit information to the computer via the transparent window.

The machines come in a variety of sizes, large and small, and are tailored to the size of the user. They are made of a semi transparent greenish metal and are round in shape, though not a sphere. The top of the machine has a flat surface for placing of holimage projectors.

Unlike battle computers, which must be built for set-up and use in battle situations, in any kind of environment, rocky or smooth, replication computers are specifically designed for use in replication rooms, whether portable or stationary. Because of this, they have a flat bottom, made of such an exact and precise plane, that when placed upon the surface of the Replication Room, also planed to perfection, gravity causes the floor and the bottom surface of the computer to seemingly fuse together, so close are the atoms of the two planes to each other. It requires a great deal of energy to remove a replication computer once it has been placed.

Like all computers, the only way to erase the knowledge in its memory banks is to destroy the crystals, which is about as easy to do as it is to move the entire planet Æonos halfway across the galaxy. Crush machines can't even destroy those crystals. Because of this, when a computer's memory bank is full, or when the knowledge it contains needs to be destroyed or hidden, it more often than not is wrapped in extremely dense material and dropped into the Red Spot, to travel into the depth of Æonos, where no one dares to go. After a few millenia, it has been calculated, the crystal do, in fact, dissolve.
